02.01.2013 New Year Resolutions

Wishing you a happy and healthy new year.

New Year Resolutions – Are you sticking to yours ?

Apparently the tradition of the New Year’s Resolutions goes all the way back to 153 B.C.  Janus, a mythical King of early Rome was placed at the head of the calendar.  With two faces, Janus could look back on past events and forward to the future.  Janus became the ancient symbol for resolutions and many Romans looked for forgiveness from their enemies, and also exchanged gifts before the beginning of the year.

That said, for most of us starting a new year is just a convenient time to refocus and to make a few personal promises.  Whether it is to exercise more, eat better, travel, to give up smoking or simply to watch less TV, planning ahead, positive thinking and getting organised is definitely a good thing.

Many organisations will run an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP).  An EAP can offer sound advice and support on an array of issues as well as to those having difficultly sticking to their respective New Year Resolutions.  If your organisation does not yet have an EAP in-place and you are considering such a service, please contact us to talk you through what options are available and to provide you with indicative pricing.  An EAP can start from as little as £6 +VAT per employee per year.  Quotations available upon request.

Once again, all the best for the year ahead.
