04.01.2010 vielife has NCQA 'Seal of Approval' for Health Risk Appraisal Tool...
vielife, a global health and wellbeing consultancy, is one of the first companies to be awarded certification for the quality of its health risk appraisal tool under the National Committee for Quality Assurance’s (NCQA’s) new Health Information Products (HIP) certification programme.
NCQA is an independent, not-for-profit standard-setting organisation and a leader in the development of effective strategies for communicating health plan information to consumers in America. The NCQA seal is a widely recognised symbol of quality, and a reliable indicator that an organisation has been through a rigorous review process and delivers high quality services.
“HIP certification shows an organisation’s commitment to and expertise in gathering the right health care information in the right way, and using and disseminating that information in a way that respects and safeguards patient privacy,” said NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane. “vielife was among the first to come forward for this programme, and is to be commended for this accomplishment.”
This certification recognises vielife’s unique approach to health and wellbeing and its high-standard services. It marks vielife’s ongoing leadership in the health and wellbeing field and strengthens its position as an industry innovator.
“We are delighted to be awarded this certification by one of the leading authorities on health care quality,” said Dr Peter Mills, chief health officer for vielife. “Our scientifically validated health risk assessment allows us to measure and report on the health status of a community, and sits within a suite of services targeting the key areas of health and well-being. The benefits are healthier and more vibrant people, leading to increased productivity and reduced health care costs. Not only does the certification further validate our Health Risk Assessment tool, it allows employers and organisations to make informed decisions regarding their health promotion strategy.”
The Health Information Products Certification programme reflects the growing emphasis on improving access to high-quality preventative health information and early identification and outreach to individuals with health risks.
vielife has conducted scientific research that shows that health and wellbeing programmes can reduce employees' health risks by 15 percent and lead to a 10 percent increase in their productivity (the equivalent of about one extra week per year per employee). The results of vielife's research were published back in the September/October 2007 edition of The American Journal of Health Promotion. vielife’s NCQA certification will last for two years.
